And I'd better get onto 2011 soon or I'll never catch up! The time between Christmas and New Years didn't slow down much for us this year so we just kept on having fun and enjoying life to the fullest.
We couldn't squeeze in Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa C before Christmas this year so we opted to have it on the 26th. By this point in the season the kids weren't even getting out of their pajamas until after nap time but we just let it go and enjoyed the moment. Here's Ben catching a ride from Grandma C.
Christmas Dinner of sorts complete with our Christmas crackers. This year's variety was quite interesting. You never know what will come out of those things! I still love that Matt and I had crackers at our wedding, it was one of the highlights.
On the 27th we did a girls only Nutcracker evening. We took this picture when Kacey and Kayla came to pick up McKenzie and me. I do wish we had waited on the photo and got one with Aunt Renee onsite. Next year I'll have to plan better.
McKenzie and Kayla loved the Nutcracker since they have both been taking ballet lessons. Kayla, being 5, sat and watched the show quietly. Not McKenzie, she whispered loudly through the first half, 'What's going to happen?', 'Where's that big rat?' and on and on. At the intermission I talked with her about being quiet, she really took this to heart because when we got back to our seats and the show started the man behind us said something to his wife and she turned around and 'shushed' him with her little finger up to her lips. Horror... oh well at least it was excitement and not whining and crying. She also did not like that there were men there. She had been told it was 'girls only' - guess she didn't understand we meant only girls coming with us. We might take a year or two off from the Nutcracker and find something meant to be a little louder to do next year.
While we were out Ben got to finish setting up some of his Christmas gifts with Daddy. Ben is loving the basketball hoop Auntie Anne got for him.
He also tried to get Daddy to let him Skype someone... anyone! Ben loves our weekend Skype sessions with Grandma and Grandpa C. I suspect he thinks they actually live in there just waiting to talk with him. He will actually hug the computer sometimes - it's too cute.
So on to 2011. I'm looking forward to more adventures in parenting as we head into the new year.
