First there was the two of us... or wait... make that four. Okay, in the beginning there was the four of us. My husband Matt, me and Indy and JonesZ our boxers.
Our dogs have never believed they were dogs instead they have thought of themselves as our actual children. So we were a little worried how they would react when we brought home a real baby. Here's Indy and JonesZ waiting for the baby in her nursery.
We didn't have long to wait after this picture was taken! McKenzie arrived in our world nine days earlier than planned which took us very much by surprise. On Friday the 8th I had been off work for a full week and had almost everything on my list taken care of. I had spent the day looking at some houses with my Aunt Renee, going in for a weekly appointment with the doctor, and then coming home and weeding the front gardens. Then Matt came home from work and neither of us were hungry so we skipped dinner and went over to our friends Travis and Andrea's house to play some games. We played games until midnight and then I headed home. Matt came home about one and told me how happy he was to be able to sleep in the next morning. I was up at 3:48 to go to the bathroom, then again at 3:54, then again at 3:58 all the while telling myself I had not just been up. Then right at 4:00 am my water broke and I woke Matt up. He asked me if I was sure and I yelled of course I was sure and that I needed help. So he got up and I had him call the doctor - luckily I had asked for the number earlier that day when I was at the doctor - nothing like just in time planning. I heard Matt on the phone telling the hospital that he thought my water broke. I assured him there was no doubt it had broken.
At 3:23 PM on June 9th, Matt and I became the proud parents of a beautiful baby girl. She was 7 lbs, 2 oz and 21 inches with blond hair. We were so happy to finally get to meet our little girl McKenzie!
She is perfect in every way and has been such a happy baby right from the start. When she was born the doctors told us she was the first baby that day to have blond hair - all 15 others had had dark hair that day. She's like our very own little ray of sunshine.
McKenzie is almost 11 months old now and I've been meaning to start writing about her and the amazing things she does everyday for a while now... so I'll just get started and try to catch up on all the great moments as we go along.

I am glad you finally started blogging. I will give me something to do in the down time. I will blog stalk you. I can't believe how big that little girl had gotten, and I can't wait for her to have a little playmate named Atticus.
